It's February, and this is the time of year when we see a bump in renewal notices. It was this time when we got our status as a non-profit, and when we began to collect annual fees from employers for the first time in 2020.

In 2024 we're now coming up on almost 1,000 living wage certified workplaces in Ontario, with more added every week!

We're thankful to all our certified employers; both those new to the network, and those who were with us in the early days as a nascent organization.

We are always pleased to see our living wage calculations being put to use in union negotiations, as they are here for University of Toronto food service employees and caretakers. Their pay was suppressed by the controversial – and now repealed – Bill 124 which limited annual public sector wage increases to one per cent annually.

Each month we’ll showcase a different living wage employer. This month it’s Parry Sound Area Chamber of Commerce, which has represented the Parry Sound Area business community since 1897.
